Family business

Speciffix is a family business owned and operated by Roger and Alison Bray.

Roger Bray

Roger has been active in the Information Technology industry for over 30 years predominantly working in or with leading New Zealand based software development companies offering business solutions. He has literally seen a flegling industry grow from a 'techie' back room culture to one which has a social concious, touches nearly everyone's daily lives, and continues to change the society in which we live.

During this time Roger has undertaken work in most job types associated with this industry sector. This predomianty involved management and hands-on activities in software research and development (including business analysis, software design and coding), and customer support (both on-site and off-site). Roger is also a Microsoft Certified Professional in operating systems and is competent implementing and managing networks.

Typically consulting with the senior management of customers and other suppliers, Roger has mastered intepersonal skills and has a flair for problem solving. Part of the attraction of working in the IT industry is exposure to a large range of business types and Roger has aquired a lot of industry specific knowledge accross a wide variety of business sectors, plus experience of diverse business models. This provides Roger with an excellent background to advise on business processing solutions, including planning and implementation plus risk and change management.

Alison Bray

Alison has been teaching English to migrant and visiting children for over 10 years. She holds a Cerificate in Teaching English as an Additional Language.

Her main involvement is through the Primary School sector. She has also mangages and teaches groups of children visiting from sister schools in South Korea. Typically these groups number 15 to 25 children staying approximately 4 to 10 weeks. During her other school activities Alison also works with young adult Japanese teachers who are on overseas experience trips so as to emerse themselves in an English speaking environment.

Community

Roger and Alison are experienced qualified Waterwise instructors teaching children water safety and confidence in a marine environment. They are also involved at a national administration level and have also taught well over 100 adults the sailing, motorboat, risk management, and people handling skills required to qualify as a Waterwise instructor. This is volunteer work as Waterwise is a non-profit organsisation. Speciffix are proud to sponsor the Waterwise programme. For more information about Waterwise see www.waterwise.org.nz
